To eliminate any potential confusion during high-pressure situations, the HeartStart FRx features a two-button interface. The green button turns the AED on, initiating the rescue process, and the prominent orange button is used to deliver a shock when instructed by the AED. The straightforwardness of this design ensures that even those with no prior training can operate the device efficiently. The HeartStart FRx uses an intuitive approach underlined by its easy-to-follow 3-step process.
Step 1: Push the Button - Initiating the rescue process begins by simply pushing the green button on the HeartStart FRx AED. This action turns the device on and immediately activates the voice instructions, guiding even the most inexperienced users through the rescue process.
Step 2: Place the Pads - The FRx is equipped with SMART Pads II, which can be used for both adults and children. These pads are placed on the patient's bare skin as depicted on the pad's diagrams. The Philips HeartStart FRx then automatically evaluates the patient's heart rhythm.
Step 3: Press the Shock Button (if advised) - If the Philips HeartStart FRx AED determines a shock is necessary, it will prompt the user to press the orange shock button. Clear voice commands caution the rescuer to ensure no one is touching the patient before delivering the shock.
